2009 Great Island Kayak Race Results
With the cold easterly wind providing near arctic conditions this years race was the toughest yet, the long stretch from Whitepoint across the front of Cobh and up to the finish line at Marlogue punishing everyone. An absolutely brilliant effort by all this year and hope to see everyone back for the 2010 GIKR on 30th December.

 Welcome...

Situated in Cork Harbour, Great Island offers the pefect venue for what has now become an annual event in the Irish Sea kayaking calendar.

'This years race is back to a circumnavigation of the Great Island. (approx 25.5km) The fourth year running the GIKR we hope to have our biggest entry yet. The main aim is to get people out on the water for a post xmas paddle, so if your don't want to be racing the likes of Jim Morrissey and Ciaran Cooke your welcome to come along, paddle at your own pace and enjoy the BBQ after.'
